Startup Weekend is an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. The weekend brings together people with different skillsets - primarily software developers, graphics designers and business people - to build applications and develop a commercial case around them.

Three days to turn startup fans into startup founders.

So what happens next …

Startup Weekend Tel Aviv-Jaffa 2011 is a month in the past and many individuals will be asking “so what do we do now?”.  We are very curious to hear from projects and teams that have continued on the development or have started something with the connections that were made during the event – drop me an email (resnicke@gmail.com).

For those that are moving forward with these or other projects, then I’d like to make you aware of some parallel threads that might be of interest:

Venturegeeks: Venturegeeks is kicking off the initial class in the first ever Israeli accelerator program in April. Though the first set of companies has already been chosen, you should keep abreast of this activity so that you will be ready to apply when the next class begins in the fall.

youngStartup Ventures: The Startup Weekend Tel Aviv has begun an association with the youngStartup Ventures based in the US. youngStartup runs events that introduce new ventures to a wide audience of investors in a unique setting. The next event is titled The US/Israel Venture summit and is taking place  over March 29-30 at the Digital Sandbox in New York City. This is a great way to get your venture in front of some leading investors.

Keep an eye on this space since I hope to be able to tell you about more activities and associations in the near future. And don’t forget about the upcoming Startup Weekend North which is planned for may – more to come.
